Detailed itinerary of your 5 days Uganda primate safari

Day 1: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Have breakfast early in the morning and later, drive to Kibale Forest National Park your first destination of Uganda primate safari. You will drive from Kampala through Mityana-Fort Portal city while enjoying the beautiful countryside filled with tea plantations. Lunch stop will be at Fort Portal and later, you will connect to Kibale National Park. Relaxation, dinner and overnight at the booked tour lodge of your choice.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale & guided nature walk in Bigodi Swamp

After a heavy breakfast, you will be expected at Kanyanchu visitor centre early for 7:00am briefing on guidelines to be observed while spotting chimpanzees. You will start your half day chimp trek at 8:00am with park guide. Expect to see other primates as well as bird species and a lot more.

After one hour that you will have face to face with chimpanzees, walk back to relax, enjoy your lunch and then go for Bigodi guided nature walk. This will reward you with incredible sight of numerous primates, birds including the great blue Turacos, papyrus gonolek and others. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

You will drive via Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park for you to see the tree climbing lions. Later, drive to Bwindi with en-route lunch stop at Savanna Resort. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge in Bwindi National Park.

Day 4: Mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi & Batwa cultural experience

Mountain gorilla trekking your dream adventure begins with your early morning breakfast and after, you will assemble at Bwindi park offices with some packed snacks and bottled water. The 7:00am briefing mainly focuses on understanding gorilla trekking rules and regulations, allocation of gorilla families and park ranger guide.

At 8:00am, the 2-6 hours’ gorilla trek starts with park guide on lead. Once you spot mountain gorilla family, you will be allowed 1 hour to have a face to face encounter, take photos and learn more about their daily behaviors. The next thereafter will be returning to the lodge to relax.

In the evening, your next activity will be visiting the Batwa community for cultural experience. After, get back to relax, dine and spend a night at the lodge.
