Detailed itinerary of your 10 days Rwanda adventure
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Have a cup of tea or coffee and after, drive to Akagera National Park in Eastern Rwanda. Kigali city tour will be your first activity and it involves visiting the nearby Kigali/Gisozi genocide site, local markets, different historical sites and others. Lunch will then be provided to you at a hotel in Kigali.
After your lunch, drive to Akagera National Park about 2 to 3 hours in you’re a 4×4 Safari Land Cruiser/Safari Van pop-up roof. Expect to arrive early and you will have a quick game drive as you connect to your safari lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise in Akagera National Park
After breakfast, a game drive in the morning will be your next top Rwanda safari activity to enjoy on 10 days Rwanda adventure. This may last you from 2 to 3 hours and it involves spotting savanna wildlife species like zebras, elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, warthogs, bush bucks, birds, topis, roan antelopes to mention but a few.
You will have lunch break at the lodge after your game viewing experience and at 2:00pm, your next trip activity will be a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. This lets you sight many water birds, crocodiles and hippos. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 3: Travel from Akagera to Volcanoes National Park
Get up early and have breakfast, then drive to Volcanoes National Park in Northwestern Rwanda. Your journey will cover about 4 to 5 hours and upon arrival, you will check in at gorilla safari lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Have a heavy breakfast and after, you head to Kinigi reception for briefing on gorilla trekking rules. At 8:00am, the actual gorilla trek starts with park guide on lead and your group will comprise of 8 trekkers. En-sure you have adequate drinking water and energy giving snacks. The entire mountain gorilla trek may cover 2 to 6 hours and it covers 1 hours in which you will explore how mountain gorillas behave, feeding habits, groom each other, play and take as many pictures as you can. Later, get back to the gorilla safari lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Golden monkey tracking and Iby’Iwacu cultural village visit
Enjoy your breakfast early in the morning and after, assemble at Kinigi offices for briefing on golden monkey tracking rules and regulations. A trek to see golden monkeys may take you 2 to 4 hours inclusive of 1 hour of magical encounter. There is also a chance for you to spot diversity of other primates, birds, butterflies and many more.
After your golden monkey exploration, get back to the lodge to have lunch and also rest a little. In the evening, your next activity will be visiting Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a thrilling cultural experience. Return to have dinner and overnight stay in your respective gorilla safari lodges.

Day 6: Dian Fossey tomb hike in Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast early in the morning and after, your next activity will be Dian Fossey tomb hike. This leads you to tomb site of Dian Fossey one of the world’s greatest primatologists whose work is credited for saving the lives of the endangered mountain gorillas. You will get to explore her gorilla legacy and after, walk back to relax, dine and spend a night at the lodge.

Day 7: Travel from Volcanoes National Park to Lake Kivu

Day 8: Boat ride on Lake Kivu then transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest
Have breakfast early in the morning and later, you will report to Uwinka reception for briefing on chimpanzee tracking rules and regulations. The park guide will be assigned to you who will lead you on a search for chimpanzees with a chance to spot other primates as well as birds and butterflies. Upon spotting them, you will have 1 hour of exploring their feeding, playing habits, how the groom each other and opportunity to take photos.
Retreat from your chimpanzee trek and after lunch, you will go for an afternoon canopy walk. On a suspended canopy walk, expect to enjoy good sight of birds, primates and scenic canopy of Nyungwe Forest. Dinner and overnight stay in Nyungwe Forest National Park.
