Day 1: Transfer to hotel in Kigali

On early arrival at Kigali airport, meet your Rwanda safari guide for transfer to the hotel to relax, dine and spend a night.

Day 2: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have breakfast early and later, leave your hotel for Nyungwe Forest National Park in southern Rwanda. Expect to make an en-route stop ta Nyanza Palace, Murambi site and museum then lunch at Butare Town. Proceed to the park for dinner and a night stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee & colobus monkey tracking-Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have a tasty cup of tea or coffee and later, report to Uwinka reception to have 7:00am briefing on chimpanzee tracking rules. At 8:00am, begin a trek to explore more about chimpanzees, how they play, feeding habits and take their pictures. Return after your one hour of magical encounter with chimpanzees while spotting lots of other primates, forest birds and a lot more.

In the afternoon, embark on colobus monkey tracking to spot variety of primates including black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys and also birds. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 4: Canopy walk and nature walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have a cup of tea or coffee and after, engage in a canopy walk along a suspended walkway. Expect to sight variety of primates, beautiful Nyungwe Forest canopy birds like hornbills, Rwenzori turacos and a lot more. Retreat for lunch break at your lodge and in the afternoon; take a nature walk which rewards you with mesmerizing view of Kamiranzovu waterfalls. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu

You will engage in golden monkey tracking one of the most thrilling experiences that lets you strike your imaginations with golden monkeys in the wild. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a comfortable lodge in Volcanoes National Park.

Day 7: Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Have breakfast early in the morning and after, report to the park offices for briefing on gorilla trekking rules beginning at 7:00am. You will be allocated to park guide, gorilla group and at 8:00am, expect to start your trek mountain gorillas. This may last you 2-6 hours and the 1 hour will include photo taking, observing these rare apes.

Return from your rewarding primate adventure and in the evening, pay a visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. Get back to the lodge to relax, dine and spend a night at gorilla safari lodge in Volcanoes National Park.
