Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

Day one of your 10 days Uganda Rwanda tour starts with a hefty breakfast and after, visit your first destination; Kibale Forest National Park in Kabarole district western Uganda about 5 hours’ drive from Kampala. Take the Kampala-Mubende-Fort Portal city route that also rewards you with astonishing view of surrounding extensive tea plantations.

Lunch stop will be made in a hotel in Fort Portal then you will be driven to Kibale Forest National Park. In the evening, you may have scenic walk around Crater Lakes then return to the lodge to relax, dine and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and nature walk in Bigodi

Enjoy your tasty cup of tea or coffee and after, you will participate in chimpanzee tracking experience starting from Kanyanchu Visitor Centre. First, you will be briefed at 7:00am and the actual chimp trek commences at 8:00am with park guide. Chimpanzee tracking entirely involves getting insight into the chimpanzees’ daily behaviors which the guide will explain to you. It can take about 2-4 hours to complete the adventure then you walk back after 1 hour of magical encounter.

Other primates to expect to come across on this day include red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys and there are also some interesting forest birds, butterflies to mention but a few.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi swamp just next to Kibale Forest National Park for a guided nature walk. You will get exposed to a lot of things ranging from birds, primates, other mammals like mongoose, Sitatunga antelopes. Return to the lodge to chill, dine and spend a night.

Day 3: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have breakfast in the morning and after, drive to scenic Nyakasura Falls around Fort Portal. After your exploration, connect to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you can spot the tree climbing lions and diversity of other savanna dwellers. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your preferred lodge.

Day 4: Game drive and boat cruise

Wake up early and have breakfast then set off for a game drive along Kasenyi Plains. You will be exposed to leopards, lions, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, birds and scenic beauty of northern park side. Get back for lunch after 2-3 hours of enjoyable game drive. At 2:00pm, add on your morning exciting experience with a launch cruise on Kazinga channel. This gets you the exceptional view of hippos, crocodiles, water birds among others. Dinner and a night stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer from Queen to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Leave your lodge after breakfast, drive via Ishasha area with opportunity to see the tree climbing lions. After, continue to Savanna resort for lunch then proceed while enjoying the scenic view of rolling hills in southwestern Uganda. Arrive at Bwindi early to check in at your gorilla safari lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Mountain gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural experience

Assemble at Bwindi Impenetrable national Park offices for briefing after breakfast. You will understand which rules to follow while on gorilla trekking and this is done at 7:00am. At 8:00am, hit the jungles with guide after being assigned to anyone of the park’s 20 habituated gorilla families. You may take 2-6 hours tracking mountain and this covers 1 hour of observing, photography and learning about their behaviors.

Ensure you have carried some packed lunch and bottled water because this adventure demands some physical wellness. You will return to the lodge to relax and in the afternoon/evening, engage in Batwa community walk for you to enjoy dances, music performances and a lot more. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your respective gorilla safari lodges.

Day 7: Drive from Bwindi National Park to Volcanoes National Park

Day 8: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

A hefty breakfast in the morning and then you will report to Kinigi offices for briefing on pre-gorilla trek rules. A gorilla trek unpredictable and it can last from 2-6 hours depending on your hiking speed, nature of the habitat and location of gorillas but it is an amazing primate adventure.

At 8:00am after you have been assigned to gorilla family, navigate through the rain-forest to search for mountain gorillas. Upon finding them, you will spend a maximum of 1 hour face to face with them and for photography. The gorilla families to trek in this park include Karisimbi, Susa A, Bwenge, Ugenda, Amahoro, Hirwa, Sabyinyo, Umubano, Agashya and Kwitonda. Get back to the lodge to relax and in the evening, go for cultural experience at Iby’Iwacu cultural village just adjacent Volcanoes National Park. Dine and spend a night at your respective lodges.

Day 10: Departure
