Since your Rwanda gorilla tour begins from Kigali city, you will be expected to rise up early. This is to give you ample time to prepare and with your packed lunch plus bottled water, meet the gorilla safari guide for transfer to Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda, about 2-3 hours’ drive.
If you left without taking breakfast, you can have your cup of tea or coffee en-route and arrive at Kinigi Visitor Centre early to join other trekkers on a briefing about gorilla trekking dos and don’ts. This normally starts at 7:00am and at 8:00am, after you have been allocated to a park ranger guide and a gorilla family; you begin you gorilla trek tour via the rain-forest.
A normal gorilla trek can take you 2-6 hours but this isn’t a guarantee since it all depends on nature of the habitat, location of gorillas and your hiking speed. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed to spend one hour with the gorilla members, take pictures and learn about their behaviors.
